We acquired nearly 40 acres of woods and meadow between Townhouse Road and the Sheepscot River in 2018.

For the previous 30 years, the meadow had served only as a source of hay for local livestock. But with each cutting, the quality of the meadow was being diminished.

In order to care for the land more thoughtfully, we imagined that foraging livestock would naturally fertilize the soil as they found appropriate feed.

And so, the idea of a working livestock farm was born. With an expanding variety of livestock using the meadow,we hope to care for both animals and the land.

Of course, this is so much bigger than we can manage. Community participation will be the driving force that keeps Sheepscot Meadow Farm strong and thriving.
