Our History

We are Matt Schofield and Jessie Rabban. We purchased this property in 2018 and quickly realized that we had a special plot of land that had no current agricultural purpose. So we set to imagining our meadow as a thriving livestock space.

As city people, we sought out Sean Norton, who brought his experience growing up with goats and horses in Freeport in the 1970s.

Sheepscot Meadow Farm is currently focused on rearing the Arapawa goat. This breed is critically threatened and looking for farmsteads to increase its spread. Click here to learn more about this extraordinary goat.

We are also working to grow a flock of Holland chickens. You can read more about this breed here.

We have nearly completed our 40’ x 60’ 3-level timberframe barn. This barn includes a small apartment for our livestock manager.

Where do we go from here? Do you have experience with livestock? Join in and help shape the future of Sheepscot Meadow Farm!
